South Gujarat heaves a sigh of relief as rains stop

Ahmedabad: People in South Gujarat heaved a sigh of relief on Sunday when the torrential rains that had lashed Saurashtra and some other parts of South Gujarat continuously for the past few days, finally stopped. The incessant rains had disrupted normal life in the region.

The army, meanwhile, continued its relief work in Porbandar district and distributed food packets and other material in the affected areas. Umarpada in Surat and Mundra taluka in Kutch recorded 4 mm rainfall on Sunday. In Mahuva taluka in Surat, Chikhli in Navsari, and Vyara and Valod in Tapi district, only 2 mm rainfall was recorded.

Thundershowers were reported from some parts of Jamnagar, Junagadh & Porbandar districts. The Met department has forecast light rain in the state in the next 24 hours.
