108 refuses to shift Anand swine flu suspect to Ahmedabad

VADODARA: Anand's first suspected case of swine flu which was reported on Monday faced problems while being shifted to Ahmedabad civil hospital.

While it was only in late evening that district health officials decided to refer the 25-year-old patient's case to Ahmedabad civil hospital, 108 emergency service refused to shift the patient to the hospital.

"The family informed me that Anand district collectorate itself was refused by 108 ambulance to shift the patient to Ahmedabad. They informed the collectorate that it was out of their jurisdiction'," said Dr Shailesh Shah, who was first approached by the patient for treatment. "District health officials had to then use their old jeep to shift the patient to Ahmedabad."
